Soft skills include work ethic, collaboration, negotiation, communication, self and time management skills, service, compassion, and caring qualities. These will prepare students for success throughout their entire life.

I Survived Book Series and AR/VR Experiences
A special thank you to Laura Berg (@lbergkisd - reading intervention teacher at McDonald JH) for sharing her idea of pairing books in the I Survived series by Lauren Tarshis (@laurenTarshis) with virtual reality and augmented reality experiences.
Below is the combined list of what we found, along with the resources that Laura found, to make this a truly memorable learning experience for students. #teamwork
Students will need the following two apps:
Once you are in either app, you can search for the title listed in the table below. A few of the titles have links to be able to
view them on a computer, but we highly recommend the apps over a computer for a
more realistic experience.

YouTube 360videos - There is a dedicated channel for 3D videos. On a computer you can scroll around using the mouse, but to enjoy the full virtual reality experience, place a device in a VR viewer and choose the cardboard mode.

Picture-in-Picture Chrome Extension
Do you flip your classroom or want students watch videos and take notes? With the picture-in-picture extension by Google, you can pop-out YouTube videos from the web browser and open a Google Doc to take notes (or do anything else) while simultaneously watching the video.
No more split screens, or moving between tabs. Once popped-out you can move the video anywhere on the screen as well as make it larger or smaller. In this mode you only have the ability to pause or play the video. If you need to rewind or fast forward, simply go back to the YouTube tab and control it from there.
This works great with videos in Canvas!

Lock Your Computer
Reminder: Lock your computer when you are away.
Leaving your computer logged in and unattended makes it very easy for anyone to access your email, files, and even TAC data (if you have that window open).When you are leaving the classroom or your office, be sure you are locking the computer screen by pressing the Windows and L keys at the same time.
When you come back, press Enter and then re-enter your password to quickly access your computer again.

iCamp 2019: Google Expeditions
What is Google Expeditions? Google Expeditions is a virtual-reality
teaching tool. You can swim with sharks, visit outer space, explore the human
body, walk through a museum, visit landmarks, battlefields and more without
leaving the classroom. You can guide students on an adventure, or have them
self-explore. Check on the video below!
Google has mode some improvements this year to Expeditions, including better connectivity in the classroom. This year we will also discuss Google Expeditions Augmented Reality where you can place items in your room "virtually" for students to interact with.

Windows Snipping Tool
Teachers and students alike should know how to use the Snipping Tool that's built into Windows. It's great for creating quick screen-shots!
Capture all or part of your PC screen, add notes, save the snip, or email it from the Snipping Tool window. You can capture any of the following types of snips:
- Free form snip: Draw a free-form shape around an object.
- Rectangular snip: Drag the cursor around an object to form a rectangle.
- Window snip: Select a window, such as a browser window or dialog box, that you want to capture.
- Full screen snip: Capture the entire screen.
After you capture a snip, it's automatically copied to the Snipping Tool window. From there you can annotate, save, or share the snip.
